All eyes were turned towards the military parade, which was indeed impressive, and the related diplomatic meetings. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/k9UcGfitxbs\">Commemorative Gala marking the 80th anniversary of Japan\u2019s WWII surrender<\/a>* was as fascinating and meaningful, however benefiting from far less coverage in the West. China broadcast it live on China Central Television (<a href=\"https:\/\/english.cctv.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CCTV.com<\/a>), the national television broadcaster of China. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/k9UcGfitxbs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video<\/a> can still be watched on the Youtube Channel of the South China Morning Post (SCMP):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"692\" height=\"389\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/k9UcGfitxbs?si=82YOyNE2DaRhzzZI\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the framework of the current normative war, the closing tableau of the gala (starting 1:30:28), titled &#8220;Singing and dancing with a shared destiny&#8221; (\u6b4c\u821e\u547d\u8fd0\u4e0e\u5171), is particularly important. It stresses China&#8217;s vision for the future and how China perceives its own role in promoting this shared destiny of peace for the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The major symbol used is the flight of doves, which universally evokes peace. We may also wonder if the flowers (stage wall and side curtains, and carried by the children) are not a subtle reference to the thought of Xi Jinping when he proposed the <em>Global Civilization Initiative<\/em> (\u5168\u7403\u6587\u660e\u5021\u8bae &#8211;&nbsp;qu\u00e1n qi\u00fa&nbsp;w\u00e9n m\u00edng ch\u00e0ng y\u00ec):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;A single flower does not make spring, while one hundred flowers in full blossom bring spring to the garden [\u201c\u4e00\u82b1\u72ec\u653e\u4e0d\u662f\u6625\uff0c\u767e\u82b1\u9f50\u653e\u6625\u6ee1\u56ed\u3002\u201d]. As the future of all countries are closely connected, tolerance, coexistence, exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations play an irreplaceable role in advancing humanity&#8217;s modernization process and making the garden of world civilizations flourish. [\u5728\u5404\u56fd\u524d\u9014\u547d\u8fd0\u7d27\u5bc6\u76f8\u8fde\u7684\u4eca\u5929\uff0c\u4e0d\u540c\u6587\u660e\u5305\u5bb9\u5171\u5b58\u3001\u4ea4\u6d41\u4e92\u9274\uff0c\u5728\u63a8\u52a8\u4eba\u7c7b\u793e\u4f1a\u73b0\u4ee3\u5316\u8fdb\u7a0b\u3001\u7e41\u8363\u4e16\u754c\u6587\u660e\u767e\u82b1\u56ed\u4e2d\u5177\u6709\u4e0d\u53ef\u66ff\u4ee3\u7684\u4f5c\u7528\u3002]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here, I wish to propose the Global Civilization Initiative.
