The Filipino army is still fighting the Islamic State in Marawi. The threat coming from the Islamic State in South East Asia (SEA) must neither be forgotten nor underestimated.

Furthermore, the Islamic State may also develop the capacity to use South East Asia as new platform to re-launch or launch operations elsewhere.

Dr Helene Lavoix is President and Founder of The Red Team Analysis Society. She regularly publishes on geopolitical issues, uranium security, artificial intelligence, the international order, China’s rise and other international security topics. Committed to the continuous improvement of foresight and warning methodologies, Dr. Lavoix combines academic expertise and field experience to anticipate the global challenges of tomorrow.
